The Boston Red Sox have announced that they will continue training during spring Fort Myers for another 30 years as they signed a contract saturday with Lee County.

Boston have been playing in the City of Palms, where the stadium has 7,290 seats available since they moved out of Winter Haven in 1993 and have sold 73 spring training games. The Red Sox had a purchase that could come out in 2010.

As a result, Boston and Lee County will work on a new stadium to open in 2012. Lee County officials approved the plan this week.

The Boston fans flock to see their team play Spring Training. The Red Sox play more than 20 games at Jet Blue Park, a stadium that has a capacity of 11,000 people. Several players have shown their fascination for playing spring training here in Fort Myers.
